BIOGRAPHY

Ger’Kayla Tunley graduated with her Juris Doctor (JD) from the University of Tulsa College of Law in May 2024 and was admitted to the bar in October. Hailing from Tulsa, she initially pursued her undergraduate studies at a small college in Kansas, where she excelled both academically and athletically. As a former collegiate athlete, Kayla brings a competitive edge and strong work ethic to her legal pursuits. Alongside her studies, she has held notable leadership roles, including President of the Black Law Students Association and Secretary & Chair of the DEI Committee for the Student Bar Association. She has also served as Executive Editor for the ABA Environmental, Energy, and Resources Law: Year in Review.    

Her professional journey includes enriching experiences such as serving as a Legal Extern at The Williams Companies, Inc., where she gained valuable insights into legal research and litigation strategies. Additionally, Kayla has contributed her skills to public service as a Legal Extern at Legal Aid Services of Oklahoma. As a Summer Associate at Johnson|Cephas Law, PLLC, she honed her legal acumen through research and drafting pleadings across various legal areas. With a solid academic foundation, diverse experiences, and a golf coaching career, Kayla is well-equipped to thrive in the legal profession, given her strong interest in environmental justice. She once worked as a law clerk and joined our law firm as an attorney upon graduation and her attorney licensure.
